Three Ways to Stay Connected and Help Shape Alpha Mu’s Future

Fellow Alpha Mu Alumni,

There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the Alpha Mu alumni community. As we look ahead, the alumni board is launching three important initiatives (update, nominate, and participate), which are designed to strengthen our alumni network, bring new voices to our board, and celebrate an incredible milestone together.

We hope you’ll join us in all three!

  1. UPDATE — Stay Connected

Our alumni network includes approximately 1,200 living Alpha Mu alumni, but currently we only have e-mail addresses for about 800 of them. We want every brother to stay connected and informed as Alpha Mu moves forward. Going forward, important communications, including Alpha Musings, election information, capital campaign updates, and other chapter news, will be delivered electronically rather than through more costly paper mailings.

If you have not yet provided your current e-mail address, please take a few minutes to update your information by October 22, 2026.

Please update your contact information in both of our databases:

If you are unable or unwilling to receive electronic communications, please contact Tim Clark, Secretary and Treasurer, at [email protected] so we can make other arrangements.

Deadline: October 22, 2026

Staying connected starts with making sure we can reach you!

  1. NOMINATE — Get Involved and Bring Your Ideas

The next step in strengthening Alpha Mu is bringing new energy and perspectives to the alumni board. Our bylaws provide for an eight-member alumni board, and we anticipate up to three vacancies this year. Because elections have not been held for many years, the board has decided that all incumbent directors will also participate in this election.

This is a great opportunity for alumni to become more involved and to help shape the future of Alpha Mu. Board directors serve five-year terms, with officers elected from among the eight directors. We especially encourage alumni from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s to consider stepping forward. Fresh perspectives, new ideas, and a connection to different generations of Alpha Mu can only strengthen our alumni organization.

The chapter is in a strong position, with approximately 25 men living in the house and another 75 living outside the house, a solid financial foundation, and an exciting calendar of upcoming activities.

Could you bring something to the table? Please consider nominating yourself for a board position.

Questions about the role and responsibilities of a director can be directed to John Miller, acting board president, at [email protected].

We are also taking on volunteers to help with our various committees. If you have some expertise and would like to assist with governance, finance, communications, or physical plant, please use the same process above to volunteer some of your time.

Election Timeline

  • October 22, 2026: Self-nominations for board director positions are due to election officials:
  • October 29, 2026: Ballots will be e-mailed to alumni with updated e-mail addresses.
  • November 12, 2026: Ballots must be returned and votes tabulated.
  • November 19, 2026: Election results will be announced.

We also want to recognize and thank former board members President Steve DiOrio and Director Steve Earhart for their many years of dedicated service to the Alpha Mu board.

Deadline to nominate: October 22, 2026

  1. PARTICIPATE — Celebrate 100 Years of Alpha Mu!

And now for the most exciting initiative of all!

Alpha Mu is turning 100!

On August 14, 2027, just one year from now, Alpha Mu Chapter will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a gala celebration and a full slate of events. A 100-year anniversary comes around only once, and we want as many Alpha Mu alumni as possible to be part of this historic celebration.

The growing list of planned activities includes:

  • Golf tournament
  • House tour
  • Gala dinner, featuring Pi Kappa Phi National officers
  • Formal chapter meeting
  • And additional activities to be announced

Planning has already been underway for several months, and the excitement is building. Over 100 alumni have already indicated that they plan to attend, and we anticipate that the final gathering could include approximately 200 to 250 alumni and guests.

Although the celebration is still a year away, we need to begin planning now so that we can secure the appropriate rooms, facilities, and event space.

Please visit this Interest survey (https://forms.gle/A6DgAvkpsxpTgRvM9) to learn more and to preregister your interest in attending. Even if you aren’t ready to make a firm commitment, letting us know that you’re interested will help us plan and will help build the momentum for what promises to be a memorable Alpha Mu celebration.

Three Simple Ways to Make a Difference
