UNDERGRAD UPDATE

The Fall recruitment cycle for 2021 concluded last month and I am proud to announce that we have 24 associate members, each of which were carefully selected from an initial pool of more than 100 potential new members. This pledge class includes two legacies- Drew Borrelli and Matthew Sobkowicz. This is the largest pledge class of any fraternity on campus and includes 21 sophomores and 3 juniors.

The members of the Alpha Mu chapter are thrilled to be bringing back old traditions and in-person philanthropy events that were unable to take place in the 2020-2021 academic year. Once classes began, we were eager to kick off our THON efforts for the year. Brothers are especially excited about our new THON pair for this year, The Whiplash Dance Team. Over the summer we made arrangements to collaborate with Whiplash in our fundraising, engagement, and THON family relations efforts.

We have planned a few big THON fundraisers for the month of October, the most notable being the OPP x Pi Kapp Haunted House! The Haunted House is a fan favorite among the brothers. It is scheduled for Halloween night, October 31st, from 7-10 pm at the chapter house. OPP (operations) THON committees will come by and transform the Pi Kapp house into a thrilling walk-through haunted house experience. In addition, the day before the Haunted House, Whiplash and Pi Kapp will hold a food sale benefitting THON on Saturday, October 30th, from 1-3 pm.

A second tradition we are bringing back to Pi Kapp this year is the partnership with Best Buddies. Best Buddies has long been a fun and meaningful tradition for the brothers of Pi Kapp who value supporting those with special needs. There are three themed Best Buddies events taking place at the Pi Kapp house this fall semester. The first is a Halloween party on October 26th at 6 pm in the Pi Kapp house. The latter two events will take place around Thanksgiving and Christmas time respectively and will also take place in the chapter house.

We are looking forward to a year transitioning back to normalcy in all aspects of the brotherhood. But we remain most excited about being able to revive the missed traditions, fundraisers, and relationships made through our service efforts to THON, Best Buddies, and the Ability Experience.
